Rail Transportation: Reducing Carbon Emissions and Improving Logistics

In 2023, EP Logistics International (EPLI)[2] started transporting gypsum by rail for flue gas desulfurization. The gypsum is shipped from the Czech Republic to Germany exclusively using rail transportation.

Previously, trucks were used to transport this material, but the switch to rail happened in September 2023. This change significantly lowered carbon emissions and improved overall transportation efficiency. EPLI has completed five shipments, each covering 1,600 kilometers and replacing 66 trucks per journey.

Each train carried 2,030 tons of gypsum, showcasing high efficiency and environmental benefits.

Why Rail Transportation is the Best Choice for Businesses

Rail transportation produces only eight tons of CO2 per shipment, much less than truck emissions. This switch supports sustainability and reduces environmental harm caused by freight logistics. EPLI actively promotes eco-friendly solutions, offering reliable and environmentally conscious freight services.

These efforts help reduce ecological impact while enabling businesses to meet climate goals. Projects like this strengthen EPLI's reputation, contribute to environmental protection, and support sustainable development. Rail transportation plays a critical role in reducing global carbon footprints.
