Driver fights for life after lorry crash
A driver is fighting for his life after his car crashed with a lorry on the A48[1] in Tidenham, Gloucestershire, yesterday, Thursday, December 12. He was at the wheel of a Peugeot 308 when it collided with a lorry soon after 4.30pm. He was seriously injured and remains in a critical condition in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, following the crash outside the former National Diving Centre, near Chepstow in the Forest of Dean[2].
Police were called to the scene at around 4.40pm and the road was closed overnight for investigation work to be carried out. Gloucestershire Constabulary[3] said: "The driver of the Peugeot, a man in his 60s, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol where he remains in a critical condition. Road closures which were put in place while emergency services attended the scene have since been lifted."
Police are now appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the collision and did not speak to police at the scene, or anyone who may have dashcam footage from around the time of the collision, to make contact with them.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Gloucestershire Constabulary using the online form here[4], quoting incident 359 of 12 December.
