Rail-Road Freight Service Enhances Regional Trade Links

The newly launched rail-road freight service focuses on supporting trade between China and ASEAN nations, enhancing industrial growth.

This service integrates railway and road transport, creating faster and cost-effective logistics solutions. Don't miss...Red Deer Railway Expands Rail Services in Western Canada[2] A freight train loaded with 30 containers, valued at JPY10 million (£1.37 million), departed Chongqing.

Traveling via the China-Laos Railway, it is scheduled to reach Vientiane in five days, improving regional connectivity. Simultaneously, a cross-border road freight service transporting motorcycles, parts, and electromechanical goods complements the rail option. This parallel route ensures quicker delivery in just four days, boosting supply chain efficiency.

Combining rail and road transport systems, this service connects Chongqing, Laos, Thailand, and Malaysia. It strengthens international trade routes, facilitating exports and improving logistics performance across Southeast Asia.

Economic Growth Driven by Rail-Road Freight Service

Experts highlight the rail-road freight service as a game-changer for Chongqing's exports and industrial growth. Its flexible cargo handling and cost-effective operations improve trade efficiency and create new market opportunities.

Chongqing remains China's largest motorcycle exporter, shipping 2.214 million units in the first half of the year. Production forecasts exceed 6 million units annually, generating over JPY100 billion (£13.7 billion) in revenue. Electric motorcycles also represent a significant share of this output, with more than 2 million units produced.

Enhanced logistics networks further support manufacturing growth and strengthen industrial competitiveness in global markets.

China's New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor Drives Expansion

The rail-road freight service contributes to China's broader trade network expansion, boosting trade with ASEAN markets. Recent data shows the corridor's trade volume reached JPY1.15 trillion (£158.1 billion) in 10 months. This represents an 8.8% annual increase, surpassing national growth rates by 3.6 percentage points.

Expanded connections now link Chongqing with 548 ports across 126 countries, enhancing global trade routes. Industry leaders expect the service to sustain growth, fostering collaboration and unlocking new export opportunities. Chongqing's role as a logistics hub continues to drive economic progress and industrial development.
