Plane that ran out of fuel makes emergency landing on busy motorway during rush hour
These are the dramatic images taken after a plane made an emergency landing on a busy motorway during rush hour. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said on Monday the small plane made an emergency landing[1] at about 7am local time on Highway 85, near San Jose at the height of rush hour. Incredibly, the plane landed on the motorway without hitting any other vehicles.
There were no reports of anyone being harmed. A CHP San Jose spokesperson said in an X/Twitter[2] statement: "A small plane landed on SR-85 SB SO Stevens Creek. Nobody was injured.
The two left lanes are currently open and personnel is on scene working to clear the right lanes." Highway patrol said drivers could expect delays. "Personnel are on scene working to remove the plane, there is not a current estimation on the duration of the closure," a CHP spokesperson said in a follow-up post. "Expect delays and use alternate routes when available.

He added three right lanes remained closed as of 8:40am local time.
Later this morning, CHP said crews had made significant progress taking the wings off the plane in preparation of moving the plane off the motorway. The plane was later seen mounted on a pick-up truck. The CHP spokesperson later confirmed that all lanes were reopened.
Photos taken from the scene showed how the plane was moved from the motorway and taken away from the scene of the landing. Last month a Turkish Airlines pilot died[5] after collapsing mid-flight, forcing a passenger to make an emergency landing in New York. An airline spokesperson said: "The pilot of our Airbus 350... flight TK204 from Seattle to Istanbul collapsed during the flight.
After an unsuccessful attempt to give first aid, the flight crew of another pilot and a co-pilot decided to make an emergency landing, but he died before landing."
The spokesperson added the 59-year-old pilot, Ilcehin Pehlivan, worked for Turkish Airlines since 2007.
They added he had passed a medical examination in March, which gave no indication about any health problems.
