Man who died following crash involving BMW and articulated lorry named
A man who died following a collision involving a BMW and an articulated lorry has been named by police. Emergency services were called to the B7076 near to its junction with the A709 Dumfries to Lockerbie road shortly before midnight on October 29. Archie Williams, the 23-year-old driver of the BMW 1 series, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the lorry, a 65-year-old man, did not require hospital treatment. Sergeant Colin Ramage said: "Our thoughts are with Archie's family and we are providing support to them as our enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances of this crash. "We would appeal to anyone who was driving on the B7076 around the time of crash, who either witnessed it take place or who has any information that may assist.
Any driver with dashcam footage is asked to please contact us as soon as possible.
"We are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a red car travelling southbound on the B7076 prior to the crash who may be able to assist with our investigation.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 4261 of October 29."
