M5 delays after obstruction blocks traffic and closes lanes near Bristol

There were traffic delays on the M5 near Bristol this morning[1], Tuesday, November 26. According to traffic monitoring site Inrix, two lanes were initially closed on the northbound carriageway due to an obstruction. The M5 Avonmouth Bridge[2] was blocked between junction 19 for Portishead and junction 18 for the M49.

The lane closures were first reported by Inrix shortly after 11.30am. The obstruction had been cleared by around 12.05pm and residual delays soon disappeared. Inrix says: "Delays due to earlier incident on M5 Avonmouth Bridge northbound from J19 A369 Martcombe Road (Portishead) to J18 M49."
