M4 crash closes motorway in both directions
A part of the M4 in Neath Port Talbot was closed due to a collision between a lorry and three vehicles. Traffic Wales confirmed the M4 J41 Pentyla/Baglan to J42 Earlswood eastbound was closed. South Wales Police confirmed they were called to the scene after reports of a collision between a lorry and three cars on the M4 Briton Ferry bridge eastbound.
Minor injuries were reported. Previously, the M4 westbound was closed, but was soon cleared. Traffic Wales warned motorists to expect delays if they were travelling in the area.
Traffic monitoring service, Inrix, said all traffic was being temporarily held and there was queuing traffic due to the incident. Congestion was also affecting neighbouring areas, such as Llandarcy and Briton Ferry. In a statement, a spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “South Wales Police was called today (Wednesday November 13) to a collision between a lorry and three cars on the M4 Briton Ferry bridge eastbound.
“Minor injuries have been reported and the road has partially re-opened.” At around 10.32am, Traffic Wales confirmed the M4 J41 Pentyla/Baglan to J42 Earlswood was now clear in both directions, with all lanes reopened.
But delays remain in the area.
