A-road ‘closed for some time’ after lorry crashes into tree

An A-road in Cornwall is expected to be closed for an extended period today after a lorry collided with a tree[1], bringing it down into the road. The A395 has been closed following the crash, which also resulted in fuel spilling across the carriage way. Devon and Cornwall Police[2] were called to the scene at around 11.35am today (Thursday, October 31) after reports of the crash on the A395 near Davidstow.

A driver was reported to be trapped inside his vehicle but managed to get out without aid. He is not believed to have suffered any injuries. The road remains closed in both directions and is set to remain that way throughout the day while the crash is cleared.

Traffic monitor Inrix reports: “A395 in both directions blocked, delays due to accident, a lorry and a tree involved and fuel spillage from the Egloskerry turn off to The Wilsey Down.” Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police were called at around 11.35am on Thursday 31 October following reports of a lorry colliding with a tree on the A395 near Davidstow. “One driver was reported have been trapped but has since managed to get out of the vehicle.

He is not thought to be injured.

“A road closure has been put in place and is likely to remain for some time while clean-up work takes place.”
