Motorists warned as village road may have to be resurfaced after crash between lorry and tractor
Motorists have been warned to respect traffic management infrastructure as a village road could be set for resurfacing following a crash between a lorry and a tractor. A person was taken to hospital following the collision in Duck Corner, Hollesley, on Thursday[1], which also caused a large oil spill. Suffolk Highways said its personnel have inspected the scene and carried out cleaning and jetting of the road in the wake of the crash.

However, despite this, a large amount of oil has embedded itself into the road surface and nearby verges.
Highways took the decision to close the cross roads due to safety concerns. Another clean-up was carried out yesterday, and the road and verges will be inspected again this morning.

Highways said if, in the wake of this, there are still safety concerns, it will arrange works to resurface the area of damaged road. Motorists are advised the road remains closed and official diversions are in place.
Some members of the public have been moving the traffic management infrastructure and driving through, which Highways has warned is spreading oil further along the road and may mean a longer clean up operation.
Further information on the arrangements for the road are expected later today.
