Man who died in crash involving car and HGV named

The man who died in a crash involving a car and lorry in Dumfries and Galloway has been named by police. Ross Wood died following the crash, which happened around 1.15am on September 20, on the A75 near to Springholm, Castle Douglas. The incident involved a silver Ford Mondeo and white Scania HGV.

The 32-year-old, who was driving the Mondeo, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services. The driver of the Scania HGV, a 57-year-old man, was taken to Galloway Royal Infirmary as a “precaution”. The incident involved a silver Ford Mondeo and white Scania HGV.

Investigations into the crash are “ongoing” with the force urging anyone with information to come forward. Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing. Sergeant Neil Moffat said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr Wood at this very difficult time.

“We continue to appeal to anyone who may have seen what happened to get in touch.

“Likewise, if you have dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation then contact officers.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0209 of September 20.”
