Man charged after Edinburgh M8 crash between lorry and car in which woman died

Police have arrested and charged a 58-year-old man in connection with road traffic offences following a fatal crash on the M8 near junction 1. The crash, which happened near Hermiston Gait close to the Edinburgh bypass, happened around 9.10am on Monday, December 18 2023 involving a HGV and a car.

The driver of the car, a 41-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man is due to appear in court at a later date.
