M1 double lorry collision caused hour-long delays to form near junction 21a
There were severe delays in place on the M1[1] following a collision between two lorries. Two out of four lanes were closed on the M1 southbound[2] for more than an hour between J21A at Enderby near Leicester following the accident. The incident occurred around 2pm on Friday afternoon (September 27).
Delays of 60 minutes and approximately 5 miles of congestion were in place. On X (previously Twitter), National Highways said: “2 lanes (of 4) are closed on the M1 southbound between J21A Groby and J21 Enderby near Leicester due to a collision involving 2 lorries. Delays of 60 minutes and approx.
5 miles of congestion on approach.”
The two lanes then reopened at around 3.15pm.
