Man arrested as pedestrian dies in collision with lorry on A120 bypass
A pedestrian in his 40s died when he was involved in a collision with a lorry on the A120 Little Hadham bypass on Monday (August 5). A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody. The road reopened at 6am on Tuesday (August 6) - almost 15 hours after the initial reports to police.
A spokesman for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: "Police were called around 3.15pm yesterday (Monday) following reports of a road traffic collision on the A120 Little Hadham bypass. Officers attended the scene, alongside colleagues from the ambulance and air ambulance service. "It was reported that a lorry and a pedestrian were involved in a collision.
"Despite the best efforts of paramedics at the scene, the pedestrian, a man aged in his forties, sadly died. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers. Our thoughts are with them at this sad time.
"A 35-year-old man from Reading has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody."
East of England Ambulance Service sent the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, two ambulances and an ambulance officer vehicle. "Sadly, despite our best efforts, a man died at the scene," said a spokeswoman.
