M56 crash updates as drivers face hour long delay and six miles of congestion

Drivers on the M56 face long delays after a two car crash saw part of the motorway reduced to a single lane. National Highways North West are reporting there are six miles of congestion after the accident between Junction 14, for Hapsford, and Junction 12 for Runcorn. Motorway police are moving traffic onto the hard shoulder in an attempt to get cars moving.

There is a reported delay of an hour and 30 minutes for drivers currently stuck in the traffic. Traffic monitor INRIX is reporting the crash happened around 4.48pm. We’ll be bringing you the very latest updates, pictures and video on this breaking news story.
