M1 traffic live fire causes big delays on motorway

There are huge delays on the M1 after a vehicle set on fire on the motorway near Leeds. Traffic management system Inrix is reporting long queues as one lane has been closed on the M1 while emergency services deal with the scene. It has happened on the northbound carriageway, between junction 35 at the A63 Pontefract Lane and junction 46 at the A6129 William Parkin Way.

Traffic cameras show queuing traffic building up on the motorway, causing delays. Inrix said: “One lane closed and queueing traffic due to vehicle fire on M1 Northbound from J45 A63 Pontefract Lane (Leeds Cross Green) to J46 A6120 William Parkin Way (Leeds Colton / Garforth).” Get all the latest and breaking news in Leeds by signing up to our newsletter here.[2]
