Live: M5 traffic updates after crash with congestion warning issued

There are delays on the M5 on Sunday following a crash near Weston-super-Mare. One lane of the motorway was been closed following the collision northbound between J21 and J20. It comes as the M5 motorway is anticipated to be "one of the worst for delays" as millions embark on their Bank Holiday weekend travels.

Motorists have been warned to avoid travelling between 11am and 1pm on Sunday to dodge the worst of the traffic. On Friday there was 21 miles of congestion with delays of over an hour on the motorway as a result of the sheer volume of traffic. There were hour-long delays on Saturday as well due to congestion.

Traffic reporting website Inrix said: "One lane closed due to accident on M5 Northbound from J21 A370 ( Weston-super-mare ) to J20 B3133 Ettlingen Way ( Clevedon ). Traffic is coping well." It follows an incident overnight on the M5 which saw the motorway closed in both directions.

At 1am, traffic was held in both directions for four hours following a police-led incident which was safely resolved.
