Housing development near Cribbs Causeway to feature 80 new homes

More than 75 new properties[1] are to be built near Cribbs Causeway[2]. A housebuilder has been given the green light for the new development in the Filton[3] area of South Gloucestershire[4]. Work is now set to begin at at the 7.8-acre Charlton Common development after planning was granted for 80 new homes.

Developer Redrow said the site will include three and four-bedroom homes from the housebuilder’s Heritage Collection. The developer said this style has proven popular with homebuyers looking for “traditional 1930s charm combined with a contemporary and high-spec interior”. With plans now approved, homes are proposed to go on the market in October this year.

Redrow said an investment of more than GBP480,000 will also be made to the local community as part of the planning agreement, with funds supporting improvements to public transport links, in addition to creating new green open spaces. Sian Smith, sales director for Redrow South West, said: “We are thrilled to have received planning permission for our new Charlton Common development. “We’re excited to expand upon the existing, thriving community we have already created at our nearby Frenchay Park development, which has proven incredibly popular and, is now in its final phase, with only a few homes left.

“With excellent transport links, open green spaces, and significant investment into the local community, Charlton Common is set to become a thriving and vibrant neighbourhood. We encourage first-time buyers, professionals, downsizers and families alike to register their interest to be one of the first to hear when our homes are released.” Located in Filton[5], Charlton Common is surrounded by large green open spaces, said Redrow, and is just five miles from Bristol city centre[6].

Redrow said: “[It] boasts a perfect mix of city and country living. “These elegant three and four-bedroom, Heritage Collection new build homes are also located within easy reach of the M5 motorway, making commuting effortless, but also in close proximity to plentiful amenities and a good selection of schools too. “Charlton Common benefits from fantastic travel connections of the M4 and M5 providing great links to Cardiff, the South West and London.

The development will be neighbour to a brilliant community of entertainment, YTL’s Arena complex which will attract global artists, performers, and sporting events for all ages.

“The local area also consists of a golf course, leisure centre, shopping mall and home to the Bristol Aerospace Museum which includes Concorde Alpha Foxtrot, the final Concorde to be built and the last to fly.”
