hofer powertrain and Monumo to accelerate the development of new electric motor designs

Drivetrain engineering firm hofer powertrain is collaborating with engineering specialist Monumo to build new electric motor designs that can reduce cost and the use of permanent magnets, while improving the efficiency and performance of EV powertrains. Cambridge-based startup Monumo has developed a scalable engine called Anser, which can evaluate millions of detailed powertrain concepts within days. hofer powertrain and Monumo aim to use data-driven machine learning approaches to reduce the concept design phase of a new electric drive unit by up to 80%. “Deeptech innovation has a high potential to revolutionize the automotive sector, and we are looking forward to working together with a visionary startup like Monumo,” said Johann Hofer, CEO at hofer powertrain.

“While much of Generative AI has been used to mimic human behavior, we believe it holds a greater purpose in advancing engineering, especially when applied to global decarbonization efforts,” said Dominic Vergine, CEO and founder at Monumo.
