A woman in her 50s is being treated in hospital for serious injuries after a crash between a lorry and a car in Co Louth today.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses following the serious two-vehicle collision which occurred on the R173 Dundalk to Carlingford road at Ballymascanlan at approximately 12.10pm.

The female driver of the car was rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, for treatment of serious injuries.

The male driver of the lorry (40s) was also taken to the same hospital for medical examination.

No other injuries were reported at the time.

The road is currently closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and local diversions are in place.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.

Road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were traveling on the R173 Dundalk to Carlingford road, Ballymascanlan, Co Louth, today, Tuesday 9th July 2024, between 11.30am and 12.30pm, are asked to make this footage available to gardai.
