Wilmslow driver clocked speeding through M62 roadworks

Neil Matthews, of Moor Lane, Wilmslow, pleaded guilty to exceeding a temporary 40mph speed limit at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on June 10. The 62-year-old was caught on camera driving a Tesla Model Y Long Range in Salford on the M62 westbound between junction 11 and 10 at 74mph on September 13, last year. A temporary speed limit of 40mph was in place as part of the Manchester Smart Motorway Scheme.

Matthews was fined GBP174 and ordered to pay GBP174 victim surcharge and GBP120 costs.

His driving licence was also endorsed with six points.

Magistrates gave him until July 8 to pay the GBP468 court penalty.
