Serious crash between Tesco lorry and car closes Nuneaton road

A serious crash between a Tesco lorry and car led to part of a major Nuneaton[1] road being closed. Fire engines, police and an ambulance responded to 999 calls made to The Longshoot last night (July 8). Part of the road was blocked off as the emergency services dealt with the aftermath of the collision. Warwickshire[2] Police said that a woman was left trapped in the car.

She had to be freed from the vehicle. West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) confirmed that an ambulance was sent to the scene. A WMAS spokesperson added that two patients were assessed.

Neither of the patients needed hospital treatment. “We were called to reports of a collision between a car and a van on The Long Shoot at 7.20pm, one ambulance attended the scene,” a WMAS spokesperson said.

“On arrival we discovered two patients, both of whom were assessed and discharged at the scene.” A traffic light was damaged during the collision and the stretch of road remained closed for highways works.
