M5 lorry crash live as drivers warned of long delays and told: ‘Allow extra time’

Drivers have been warned of long delays on the M5 this morning after a crash left an oil spillage on the carriageway. Motorists were told they faced an hour delays approaching the scene of the collision. National Highways warned that while the motorway was not fully closed, there was "reduced capacity" with three lanes shut on the M5 southbound between M6 J8 Great Barr and M5 J1 West Bromwich.

Road users heading in that direction were told to allow extra time for their journeys. National Highways warned: "There is reduced capacity on the M5 southbound between M6 J8 Great Barr and M5 J1 West Bromwich following a collision which has resulted in a spillage on the carriageway. "Delays of 60 minutes on approach, please allow extra time for your journey." BirminghamLive has contacted West Midlands Ambulance Service for information on the collision.

This is a live blog, we will be updating it as we get more information.
