Lorry overturns in crash and blocks key route in Paignton

A broken down, runaway lorry caused major delays in Devon this afternoon, Thursday, July 18. The A380 in Paignton[1] was blocked in both directions, with slow traffic building between Paignton and Marldon. Roads and traffic monitoring[2] site Inrix first reported the incident at 1.56pm.

It said: "A380 Kings Ash Road in both directions blocked, slow traffic due to overturned lorry between A385 Totnes Road (Tweenaway Cross, Paignton) and B3060 Marldon Road (Churscombe Cross, Marldon)." A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called to reports of a broken down lorry that had rolled down a hill and blocked the road on Kings Ash Road, Paignton at around 1.45pm today Thursday 18 July. "No injuries were reported.
