Gardai appeal for witnesses after motorist hospitalised following crash with lorry in Cork

Gardai are appealing for witnesses after a motorist was hospitalised following a collision with a lorry on Saturday night. At around 9pm on July 6, Gardai[1] and emergency services were rushed to the scene of a road smash involving a car and a lorry on the N20 at Ballyhea, Charleville. The driver of the car, a male in his 50s, was taken from the scene to Cork University Hospital[2] with serious injuries.

His condition is understood to be stable. The driver of the lorry did not require immediate medical treatment.

Although the road was closed for a period of time, the road involved in this collision has now re-opened for use.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed that investigations are ongoing. They also appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or anyone who has footage from the time to contact authorities. The spokesperson said: “Anyone who witnessed the incident or has video footage from the area at the time is asked to contact Mallow Garda Station at 022-31450 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.”
