Air ambulance called to smash involving lorry in West Fife

Motorists were advised to avoid the area after the smash which took place just after 10am and resulted in the closure of the A92 closed from the M90 and the Crossgates roundabout. Police Scotland have now confirmed the route is now back open. “Emergency services were called to the scene around 10.05am,” they stated.

“One man has been taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for treatment.

They had previously stated: “The A92 is closed from the M90 and Crossgates Roundabout due to a serious road crash involving a lorry. “Emergency services were called to the scene around 10.05am on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.

“One man is being treated by paramedics and the air ambulance is on route. “Motorists are advised to avoid the area.” A post on Traffic Scotland X added that the A92 was closed from Crossgates northbound due to a HGV collision.

“Road users are advised to use alternative routes,” it added. “Updates to follow.” A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 10.09am on Tuesday, 16 July to reports of a collision involving a heavy goods vehicle on the A92 near Cowdenbeath, Fife. “Operations Control immediately mobilised four appliances and a heavy rescue unit.

“Crews have now left the scene after ensuring it was safe.” A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We received a call at 10:08 to attend an incident on the A92 near Cowdenbeath. “Two special operations response teams (SORT), one ambulance and an air ambulance with trauma team were dispatched to the scene.”
