Young man dies after being hit by lorry on A55

A 22-year-old man has tragically died after being struck by a HGV on the A55[1] in Chester, police have confirmed. The fatal collision happened at around 5pm on Tuesday (June 4), with the man’s sad death confirmed today (June 6). Cheshire Police are now appealing for witnesses following the incident[2].

It occurred on the eastbound carriageway at Huntington in the direction of Liverpool, reports Cheshire Live.[3] The road was closed for hours while emergency services worked at the scene. The pedestrian, a 22-year-old man, died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Police investigating the collision are appealing for witnesses, dashcam or CCTV footage of the incident to come forward to help with their enquiries into the circumstances. Inspector Steve Griffiths said: “The A55 and surrounding areas will have been busy at the time of the collision, so we are urging anyone who saw what happened to come forward to assist us in establishing exactly what happened. “The same goes for anyone who may have footage.” Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via www.cheshire.police.uk//tell-us[6] quoting IML 1839763.
