Updated: Stanford Road closed by lorry crash close to Manorway roundabout

A COLLISION involving a farm vehicle and a lorry on Stanford Road on the approach to the Manorway/A13 junction closed the road. Police, fire service and ambulance personnel attended. Nub News understands the cause of the incident was a medical emergency that affected the farm vehicle driver.

At 2pm officers on scene said it was likely the road would be closed for at least two, possibly three hours, whole investigation and recovery took place.

The road remained closed at 4pm. A statement from Essex Police says: "We were called to reports of a collision, in Stanford Road, near Stanford-le-Hope, between a heavy goods vehicle and a tractor at around 12.20pm. "A road closure was put in place at the scene while we worked alongside ambulance and fire service colleagues.

"The tractor driver was left in the care of the ambulance service." An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called just before 12.30pm on Thursday 13 June with reports of a road traffic collision between a lorry and tractor. "An ambulance, rapid response vehicle and ambulance officer vehicle were sent to the scene.

"The driver of the tractor, an adult man, was transported to Basildon and Thurrock Hospital for further treatment."
