Sausages spilled over M40 in lorry crash near Bicester

Emergency services were called to the incident at 5.16am today (June 7) after the crash involving the lorry near junction 9 on the M40. The lorry was found by Thames Valley Police on its side with sausages "scattered across the road". The force has since confirmed no one has been injured in the crash before making poking fun at the incident posting "bangers and crash? (we couldn't resist)" in a statement online.

A police statement on social media said: "However, the HGV was transporting a load of sausages which are scattered across the road. "Bangers and crash? (we couldn't resist)." The force finished the post by adding "Oi Oi Saveloy".

Thames Valley Police has been contacted on these comments. The driver, who was trapped, was released by fire crews before being handed over to the care of attending paramedics. A total of four fire engines were sent from Bicester, two from Rewley Road Fire Station in Oxford and a rescue tender (a specialist heavy rescue unit) from Kidlington Fire Station.
