Police have given an update following a five-car crash on the M27 near Portsmouth.

The collision happened around 4.30pm in the fast lane of the westbound carriageway at Fareham. Traffic is backed up to the A27 and M275 at Portsmouth with “severe delays” reported.

Police have now revealed no one was seriously hurt with one minor injury sustained during the crash. A police spokesperson said: “We were called at 4.31pm to reports of a collision on the M27 at junction at Fareham.

The collision involved five vehicles. One person suffered a minor injury.” AA Traffic News said: “Long delays due to crash, now on the shoulder on M27 Westbound from M275 to J11 A27 (Fareham / Gosport).

Congestion to Havant. Traffic is slow eastbound as it slows to look. Travel time is 35 minutes.

“Severe delays of 17 minutes and delays increasing on A27 Westbound between B2149 Park Road South (Langstone roundabout) and M27 (Portsbridge Roundabout). Average speed ten mph.” One witness, posting on The News traffic and travel Facebook page, said: “Five car accident in fast lane, M27, before Fareham junction going West.

Emergency services in attendance, traffic backed up to almost Cosham.

Passengers as passed, are out of their cars and by central reservation, looks (hopefully) no serious injuries.”
