Lorry pictured hanging off M4 after crashing into barrier near A419 junction
This is the aftermath of a lorry crash this morning (Saturday, June 15) that led to the closure of two out of three lanes on a busy stretch of motorway. The crash occurred on the M4 eastbound, between junction 16 (Swindon West) and junction 15 (Swindon East) and the A419 heading towards Gloucestershire. The lorry hit the nearside barrier, resulting in a spread of debris along the motorway.
It left only the inside lane passable due to the resultant damage. Motorists were warned to expect delays into the late morning owing to “extensive damage and debris”. The motorway is now running clear.
National Highways said at the time: “Two lanes (of three) are closed due to a lorry colliding with the nearside barrier. There’s extensive barrier damage and debris. “The barrier needs to be made safe before recovery of the lorry takes place.
Delays expected later this morning.”
