Five people seriously injured in M5 crash

Five people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries and a man arrested following a two-vehicle crash on the M5.

The incident happened on the M5 northbound at junction 12 for Quedgeley, just south of Gloucester, at about 02:15 BST.

The motorway was closed for a number of hours, but has since reopened.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, drink driving, drug driving and driving whilst unfit, Gloucestershire Police said.

Those taken to hospital have serious injuries but are in a stable condition, the force added.
