Drunk lorry driver banned from the roads after crashing into car near Grantham
A drunk lorry driver who crashed into a car near Grantham has been banned from the roads. Dzintras Grivans was over the alcohol limit while driving the white SCANIA lorry. His vehicle collided with a Toyota Yaris on High Dyke, Easton on Friday, June 21 at around 8.50pm.
The driver of the car sustained minor injuries. Grivans, 51, failed a roadside breath test and was arrested. He then failed second test in custody which saw him read 107 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.
The legal limit is 35.
He was charged with driving a motor vehicle while over the prescribed limit for alcohol and was remanded in custody. He pleaded guilty to the charge.
Grivans appeared at Lincoln Magistrates'' Court on Monday, June 24 where he was disqualified from driving for three years and fined GBP1,400.
He was told to pay GBP85 to the CPS and a GBP560 victim surcharge.
