Coach and truck crash at bend in Coltishall’s High Street

An eyewitness reported seeing a coach filled with school students collide with a scaffolding truck at the bend in Coltishall’s High Street at around 9.30am. Nobody is believed to have been injured but the road was blocked for around 20 minutes. Coltishall is increasingly becoming a bottleneck for huge volumes of traffic travelling between Norwich and a large area of north Norfolk. But, with its tight corners and narrow roads, it is a hotspot for crashes. The village's bend is a hot spot for crashesThe village’s bend is a hotspot for crashes (Image: Supplied)

In April, a lorry knocked down the brick wall[1] which lines the same corner and it is still awaiting repair. A local woman, who asked not to be named, said the area was not designed appropriately for such traffic. “The road definitely isn’t wide enough for large vehicles,” she said.

She added it is particularly bad in icy conditions when vehicles slide into the bollards outside the Esso petrol station and knock them down.
