Serious crash car and lorry forces closures on M40 near Leamington

The M40[2] is closed northbound between J12 (Gaydon) and J14 (Leamington) due to a serious collision involving two vehicles. National Highways said: “Warwickshire Police remain at scene to complete collision investigations due to the serious nature of the incident, once this is complete recovery of the vehicles and clear up work will take place. There’s currently no estimate available for when the road is likely to re-open and road users are advised to expect disruption and allow extra time for their journey’s in and through the area.

“Traffic caught within the closure was initially released slowly passed the scene in lane 3 by Warwickshire Police, however once collision investigators started working this was halted with traffic now being turned and released via the rear of the queue.”
Warwickshire Police said: “We’re currently at the scene of a collision on the northbound carriageway of the M40 between junction 12 and 14. A number of the lanes are closed and we would advise you to avoid the area and follow any diversions that are in place.”
Diversion route
Road users are advised to follow the ‘Solid Square’ diversion symbol on road signs:
- Exit the M40 northbound at J12 and at the end of the slip road turn left onto the B4451 towards Gaydon
- Remain on the B4451 as it transitions into the B4100 and continue for approximately 7 miles, taking the second exit at the first 2 roundabouts and then the third exit at the third roundabout, to reach the roundabout the roundabout with the A425.
- At the A425 roundabout take the first exit towards M40(N) & Stratford-Upon-Avon and continue to the M40 J14 and re-join the M40 northbound.
