RFA Convention 2024 draws logistics leaders and experts

Logistics and transport sector experts and professionals will gather for the annual Road Freight Association (RFA) Convention later this month to deliberate on the latest innovations, trends and challenges facing the industry. The event, which takes place at the Arabella Hotel & Spa near Hermanus will give delegates the opportunity to network and gain insights about the latest innovations from industry leaders and experts. The conference runs from May 24 to 26.

"The road freight sector in South Africa is no stranger to significant challenges, making collaboration and collective action crucial in successfully navigating the road ahead," said RFA CEO, Gavin Kelly. "The annual conference provides a necessary platform for our members to gather, exchange ideas, and chart the course for collective growth and innovation." Television personality, Jeremy Maggs, will anchor the event as master of ceremonies, and confirmed speakers so far include RFA Chairman, Penwell Lunga, and Kelly, who will deliver his annual CEO address.

Investec Business representative, Neo Ralefeta, will shed light on the latest economic dynamics in the country. With 2024 being an election year, it's imperative to glean insights from political analyst Ongama Mtimka, who will offer guidance to the road freight sector with a political pulse check. Athena Executive Director, Devon Palanee, will share how the power of B-BBEE compliance spends can be unleashed, while Louise Wiggett, founder and managing director of Global Trade Solution, will unveil the potential and benefits of becoming an authorised economic operator.

University of Stellenbosch Professor Jan Havenga will delve into the imperative of efficient logistics in South Africa. RFA Green Transport Chairperson Liesl De Wet will share insights into the transition towards greener transport and alternative fuels, while Gerhard Marais will focus on the critical importance of enhancing security measures in the trucking industry. "From golf on the Friday to the welcoming event, exhibition, truck display, and gala dinner, the conference promises to be a jam-packed event not to be missed," said Kelly.
