Photos from horror lorry crash in Hackney as woman, 50, dies at scene

Pictures from the scene of a fatal road crash in East London[1] show the Met Police investigating the tragic incident. A woman, aged 50, has died following a collision with a lorry[2] on Cambridge Heath Road, between Hackney Road and Victoria Park Road, on Thursday morning (May 23). The London Ambulance Service[3] arrived at the scene within three minutes. However, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson from the LAS told MyLondon[4]: "We were called at 10.50am today (23 May) to reports of a road traffic collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian at the junction of Hare Row and Cambridge Heath Road, E2. "We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and members of our hazardous area response team. We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London's Air Ambulance.

Our first paramedics arrived on scene in approximately three minutes. Sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene." The driver of the lorry has not been arrested and police are investigating the incident.

A spokesperson from the Met Police[6] also told MyLondon: "Police were called at 10.44am on Thursday, May 23 to reports of a collision at Cambridge Heath Road, E2. "Officers and London Ambulance Service [LAS] attended. At the scene a woman, aged 50, had been in collision with a lorry.

Sadly she was pronounced dead at the scene at 10.56am." They added: "Enquiries are underway to notify next of kin. The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene.

There have been no arrests.

Closures and cordons remain in place.
