M25 closure: traffic disruption likely to hit again in August

Highways bosses have said that they will closely monitor the disruption caused by an M25 closure this weekend as plans are being drawn up for the next one in "peak holiday season".

Britain's busiest motorway will close between junctions 9 and 10 from 9pm on Friday evening until Monday morning as work continues on remodelling the Wisley junction.

It is only the second time in the motorway's history that it will be closed in the daytime for planned roadworks.

Jonathan Wade, senior project manager at National Highways, said that the closure was "still uncharted territory" as the diversion route is longer than when the road was closed in March and there is more in the building work that can go wrong this weekend.
