Cops find £5,000 in man’s BOXERS before arresting him for ‘money laundering’

Thousands of pounds were found stuffed inside a man's boxers as he drove along the M61. Officers spotted a white Mercedes-Benz C220 which aroused their suspicion on the southbound side of the motorway, near Bolton[1], this afternoon (May 7). The car was first noticed by traffic police from Lancashire.

But instead of a potentially risky high-speed chase, officers used a tactical containment near junction two, in Salford[2]. Cops searched the Mercedes driver, who was found to be hiding GBP5,000 in cash, inside his boxers. He was arrested on suspicion of money laundering.

Greater Manchester Police[4] shared an image from the moment the Mercedes was brought to a stop on the M61. It shows the car was travelling at 18mph, while a black, unmarked car can be seen to the right of the Mercedes. The footage was recorded at 2.46pm today.

In a post on X alongside the image, a GMP Traffic spokesperson wrote: "The white Mercedes C220 was picked up by @LancsRoadPolice southbound on the M61. "Pre emptive tactics used to prevent a pursuit. The vehicle was boxed near junction 2 #TPAC [tactical pursuit and containment].
