Van and lorry crash shuts A20 in both directions near M20 junction for Hythe
Drivers faced delays and heavy traffic on the A20[1] today (April 25) following a crash involving a van and a lorry. The key A-road in Newingreen, near Hythe[2], was closed in both directions between Stone Street and Junction 11 of the M20[3] for Hythe and Westenhanger. Traffic built in the area while the route remained closed throughout the morning and early afternoon as paramedics and police crews worked at the scene.
An early Inrix update stated: “A20 Ashford Road in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to accident from Stone Street (Newingreen) to M20 J11 (Hythe/Westenhanger).” A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Kent Police was called at around 9.15am on Thursday 25 April to a report of a collision involving a lorry and a van on the A20, near to the junction with Stone Street, Westenhanger, Folkestone. Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and a man was taken to a local hospital for treatment.”
The road was re-opened fully shortly before 3pm. Normal traffic conditions resumed soon after. If you have seen or heard anything you think we should know about, or in relation to this, please contact the KentLive newsdesk by email at [email protected].
