Owner of M6 Hilton Park services hits back after motorist says ‘stop anywhere but here’

The operator of an M6 service station has hit back recieving negative reviews from drivers on TripAdvisor. Hilton Park services, located between Junction 10a and Junction 11, received 2 out of 5 stars on the popular travel website - with some motorists taking aim at its 'lack of tidiness, quality of services and price of food'.[1] The service station opened in 1970 and was reportedly the busiest one in the UK by 1998 - before the opening of the nearby M6 Toll which directed travel away from the M6.

Regular drivers of the M6 will be familiar with Hilton Park, located along a straight stretch of motorway with a white bridge spanning both carriageways. Writing on TripAdvisor, one driver wrote Hilton Park was "consistently the most depressing place I've ever visited". While another simply said: "Stop anywhere but here."

Tip: take a bottle in the car, go thirsty, don't get out of the car." Another added: "Went in for a quick loo stop and a bit of food, it was 5.30pm on a Sunday. All tables and floor were so, so dirty."

However some motorists were impressed, with one writing: "Stopped off at Hilton Park Services for a quick splash and dash on the M6 heading north.

Cleanish toilets, free parking and they sell coffee - what more do you need of a motorway services?" Hilton Park has been contacted for a comment. In response to the story, a Moto spokesperson said: "Our Hilton Park Northbound site recently achieved a positive score of 95/100 in the latest Transport Focus consumer survey results, ranking it in the top 50% of motorway service stations across the UK, representing an improvement on its score in 2022. It continues to be a busy site and while the tower at Hilton Park is currently closed to customers, excellent facilities are available in our concourse, such as M&S[4] Food, Costa and Pret-a-Manger to ensure road users can rest and relax on their journeys.

"We're constantly looking for ways to improve our services across the UK and take all feedback into account.

Moto has a clear plan for transforming the rest stop experience at all its sites across the UK, including Hilton Park."
