Overturned lorry sees A1 closed near Black Cat Roundabout

The A1 was closed near the Black Cat Roundabout due to an overturned lorry on Monday afternoon (April 29). The northbound carriageway was closed for about an hour after the southbound had reopened. Traffic monitoring site Inrix reported the crash at 1.45pm.

It said: "A1 Great North Road Northbound closed, queueing traffic due to overturned lorry from Blunham Lane (Blunham / Tempsford Turn Off, Blunham) to A421 (Black Cat Roundabout, Roxton). Southbound reopened." A Bedfordshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called just before 11.45am this morning (Monday) to a report of an incident involving an overturned lorry on the A1 northbound carriageway between Blunham and the Black Cat roundabout.

Both lanes were closed whilst the incident was dealt with, and one lane has since re-opened." One lane remained closed as of 3.45pm. There are delays of approximately 20 minutes against expected traffic.
