Man in hospital after van and lorry crash shuts A20 in both directions near Hythe
A man has been taken to hospital following a crash on the A20[1] near Hythe[2] this morning (April 25). Officers from Kent Police[3] had been called to the collision on the A20 Ashford Road near to the junction with Stone Street in Westenhanger. The A20 remains closed in both directions this afternoon between Stone Street and Junction 11 of the M20[4].
The crash involved a lorry and a van, and paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service[5] also attended the scene. Traffic monitoring service Inrix says there are delays in the area. Its latest update shortly after 12pm said: "A20 Ashford Road in both directions closed.
Delays due to accident from the train station turn-off (Newingreen) to M20 J11 (Hythe/Westenhanger)."
It added: "Diversion - bus 10 and 10a will divert via Hythe Road in both directions., not serving Sandling." A spokesperson for Kent Police told KentLive[8]: "Kent Police was called at around 9.15am on Thursday to a report of a collision involving a lorry and a van on the A20, near to the junction with Stone Street, Westenhanger. "Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and a man was taken to a local hospital for treatment." The road remains closed as emergency services continue to work at the scene.
