M6 live traffic updates as lorry crashes into central reservation near Kirkby Lonsdale

A stretch of the M6 was closed on Wednesday night (April 24) after a crash involving a lorry. The HGV was reported to have crashed through the central reservation. National Highways said it happened southbound near Kirkby Lonsdale, between Junctions 34 and 35.

Traffic was at a standstill at around 7.30pm as emergency services remained at the scene. Traffic information service Inrix said all lanes were closed southbound between the A590 for Kirkby Lonsdale and the A6070 for Carnforth, with traffic being held. One lane was also closed northbound.

Lancashire Police confirmed officers were at the scene - initially reported by the force to be northbound.

At just after 7pm police said the motorway was expected to "be closed for some time".
