Live updates as M6 and M62 shut due to ‘serious incident’ and ‘medical emergency’

Part of the M6 motorway is closed this morning due to a 'serious incident'. The closure has been put in place on the northbound carriageway between junction 21 near Warrington and junction 21A for the M62 Croft Interchange. The road has been closed since around 12.30am.

Emergency services are on the scene with accident investigation work being carried out. A spokesperson for National Highways said: "North West Motorway Police Group and North West Ambulance Service are on scene. National Highways have Traffic Officers in attendance also, to assist with traffic management."
