Recap: A50 gridlock as police called to lorry crash

Police[1] have closed off a stretch of the A50 this morning following a collision. The incident has seen the westbound carriageway between Uttoxeter[2] and Blythe Bridge[3] shut. And a lane closure is also in place on the eastbound carriageway this morning.

Traffic monitoring system Inrix generated an alert over the collision at around 5.10am. The latest update states: “A50 westbound closed, slow traffic due to accident between A522 ( Uttoxeter / Upper Tean, Uttoxeter ) and A521 ( Blythe Bridge Roundabout / Draycott, Blythe Bridge). “Police are currently in the process of closing the road.

A lane closure is also in place eastbound.”

No further details over the collision have yet been released.
