Major road near town shut after crash between lorry and car

A major road near a town has been shut after a collision between a car and a lorry. Police were called to reports of a crash between Newton and Assington on the A134 Further Street, near Sudbury[1], at 11.35am. An air ambulance and three fire crews were also called to the scene.

Firefighters from Sudbury, Long Melford and Bury St Edmunds have cut the door of the car to help rescue a person.

According to a spokesperson for the fire service, a person from the lorry was out of the vehicle by the time the firefighters arrived.

It is not known if anyone has suffered any injuries.

The incident is ongoing.
