Major delays on A14 after lorry overturns in crash with van

Major delays have been reported on the A14 near Needham Market after a lorry overturned in a crash with a van. The collision is eastbound at junction 51, with the A140. Police were alerted at 10.57am.

A police spokesman said the van had broken down and was hit by the HGV.

The driver of the van was out of the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The ambulance service was called. An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said two ambulances and an ambulance officer vehicle were sent to the scene. No transportation to hospital was required.

The road is shut eastbound between junction 50 at Stowmarket and junction 51 at Needham Market/Beacon Hill.

Motorists are advised to follow this diversion: – Exit the A14 eastbound at junction 50 (Cedars). – Follow the A1120 through Stowupland, Forward Green and Earl Stonham to the junction with the A140.

– At the junction turn right and continue on the A140.

– Re-join the A14 eastbound carriageway at junction 51 (Beacon Hill).
