Live: Woman in 50s fighting for life after Wood Green crash with two lorries

A woman has been rushed to hospital in a life-threatening condition[1] following a horror crash in north London[2] earlier today (March 25). The crash involved two lorries and two pedestrians. One of the pedestrians, a woman in her 50s, was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition.

The other pedestrian - a woman in her 60s - was assessed to not be in a life-threatening or life-changing condition. One of the lorry drivers has been arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs. The driver of the other lorry did not stop and enquiries are underway to locate them.

Road closures are in place and there is disruption in the area. Any witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting CAD 3125/25Mar. A Met Police[3] spokesperson said: "We were called at 12.25pm on Monday, March 25, to reports of a collision involving two lorries and two pedestrians at the junction of Bounds Green Road and Wood Green High Road, N22.

Officers responded with other emergency services. "One of the pedestrians, a woman in her 50s, was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition. The condition of the other pedestrian, a woman in her 60s, was assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing.

"The driver of one of the lorries stopped at the scene. He was arrested on suspicion of drinking while unfit through drugs. The driver of the other lorry did not stop and enquiries are under way to locate them.

"Road closures are in place and there is disruption in the area. Any witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting CAD 3125/25Mar." A London ambulance Service[4] spokesperson said: "We were called at 12.27pm this afternoon (March 25) to reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian.

"We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew and paramedic in a fast response vehicle. Our first paramedic was on the scene in approximately two minutes. "We treated a patient at the scene before bringing them to a major trauma centre."
