Ford Focus thief jailed and 15 more south Essex people at courts

Vilmantas Pilibatis, of Cattawade Link, Basildon, stole a Ford Focus worth GBP800 in Gillingham, Kent, on January 7 last year, Maidstone Magistrates' Court was told.

The court heard he also drove the stolen car down the A127 in Basildon without insurance on the same day. The 27-year-old denied the offences but admitted failing to surrender to court bail at the appointed time. He was found guilty for theft of a motor vehicle and driving without insurance last Friday.

Pilibatis has now been jailed for two months and ordered to pay GBP425 compensation. His driving record is also endorsed with six points. A thief who stole more than GBP800 worth of designer clothing from a high-end department store has been ordered to pay compensation.

Perry Pratchett, of Felmores, Basildon, was in Welwyn Garden City when he stole Ralph Lauren clothing worth GBP828 from a John Lewis store on July 19. The 35-year-old admitted the offence. Pratchett was ordered to pay compensation of GBP150 at Hatfield Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

No order for costs was made. A thief who offended again after a shoplifting spree has been jailed. Wayne Barnes, of Beambridge Court, Basildon, was handed the initial suspended sentence at Southend[2] Magistrates' Court on February 15 after he stole from Boots in Northlands Pavement, Pitsea, on four occasions between January 24 and February 14.

He had also targeted the Co-op in Canterbury Parade, South Ockendon, on December 30 and January 27. The 37-year-old has now been jailed for six weeks, after Barkingside Magistrates' Court heard he admitted commission of a further offence during the operational period of a suspended sentence order last Thursday . A man who attacked a female police officer while she was on-duty has been jailed.

Antony Manton, of Cheshunts, Pitsea, assaulted the female police officer while she was acting in the exercise of her functions as an officer on March 13, Barkingside Magistrates' Court heard. Manton also used threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress at Pablos Pizza, in London Road, Barking, that same day. He admitted both offences last Friday.

The 38-year-old has now been jailed for a total of 12 weeks. He must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of GBP154. A driver caught speeding on the M25 has been fined more than GBP400 and banned from the roads.

Naju Elfallah, of Eastwood Lane South, Westcliff, was behind the wheel of a Nissan Qashqai on the motorway, between junctions 29 and 28 in Great Warley, when he was caught doing 80 miles per hour. The speed limit is 70. The 67-year-old admitted the offence last Monday and was banned from driving for six months at Stratford Magistrates' Court.

He must also pay a fine of GBP428, a surcharge to fund victim services of GBP171, and costs of GBP100. A speeding van driver caught almost 15 miles per hour above the limit has been handed a large fine. Jamie Phillips, of Little Lullaway, Lee Chapel, was driving a Ford Transit in Streatham Place, in London, when he was caught going at 44 miles per hour on September 2.

The limit is 30. The 26-year-old admitted the offence via the single justice procedure, Bromley Magistrates' Court heard last Friday. He has now been handed a fine of GBP400 and ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of GBP160.

Phillips must also pay costs of GBP110. His driving record has been endorsed with four penalty points. A driver who jumped a red light in a major road has been handed a fine.

Daniel Sellars, of Cherrydown East, Basildon, was driving a Volkswagen Tiguan on the A205 Westhorne Avenue, in Lee, when he ignored the red light traffic signal on September 4. The 28-year-old admitted the offence at Lavender Hill Magistrates' Court on Friday. He has now been fined GBP176 and ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of GBP70.

Sellars must also pay costs of GBP100. His driving record was endorsed with three penalty points. A man who failed to hand evidence over to a police boss has been handed a fine.

Oyemade Olajide, of Theydon Crescent, Basildon, did not hand over information to the chief officer of Gwent Police, in Wales, relating to the identification of a Mercedes driver who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence on October 24, Newport Magistrates' Court heard. The 58-year-old admitted the offence via the single justice procedure on Tuesday. He has now been fined GBP367 and his driving record has been endorsed with six penalty points.

Olajide must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of GBP146 and costs of GBP90. A speeding driver caught doing almost 100 miles per hour on a motorway has been handed a large fine. Gary Martin, of Barnwell Drive, Hockley, was driving a Volkswagen Transport on the M25 in Havering when he was found speeding at 99 miles per hour on September 23, Lavender Hill Magistrates' Court heard.

The limit is 70. The 43-year-old admitted the offence via the single justice procedure last Monday. He has now been ordered to pay a fine of GBP423, and his driving record has been endorsed with six penalty points.

Martin must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of GBP169 and costs of GBP90. A speeding driver caught 14 miles per hour above the limit in a major road has been handed a fine. Sanjo Itteera, of Vange Hill Drive, Basildon, was driving a Range Rover on the A12, in Harold Wood, when he was found doing 64 miles per hour.

The limit is 50. The 20-year-old admitted the offence via the single justice procedure last Wednesday. Itteera was handed an GBP80 fine and his driving record was endorsed with three penalty points at Willesden Magistrates' Court.

He must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of GBP32 and costs of GBP80. A speeding driver caught 13 miles per hour above the limit on a major road has been handed a large fine. David Emery, of High Pavement, Basildon, was found driving a Range Rover in the A62 in Manchester when he was recorded going at 43 miles per hour on August 1.

The limit in that stretch of the road is 30. The offence was proved via the single justice procedure at Manchester Magistrates' Court on February 27. The 34-year-old has now been handed a fine of GBP440 and ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of GBP176.

He must also pay costs of GBP90. Emery's driving record was endorsed with four penalty points. A woman who did not hand evidence over to a police boss when required has been hit with a large fine.

Jayde Pearson, of Elm Green, Pitsea, failed to give information to the chief officer of Northamptonshire Police relating to the identification of the driver of a Citroen who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence on July 22. The offence was proved via the single justice procedure at Northampton Magistrates' Court on Tuesday. The 35-year-old has now been handed a fine of GBP660.

She must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of GBP264 and costs of GBP90. Her driving record was endorsed with six penalty points. A speeding driver caught doing more than 80 miles per hour in a major road has been hit with a fine.

Stephanie O'Brien, of Mayland Avenue, Canvey, was driving a Fiat on the A1 in Foston when she was found going at 83 miles per hour on August 1. The limit in that stretch of road is 70. The 28-year-old admitted the offence via the single justice procedure.

O'Brien was handed a fine of GBP40 at Lincoln Magistrates' Court on Tuesday. She must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of GBP16 and costs of GBP110. Her driving record was endorsed with three penalty points.

A speeding driver who was caught seven miles per hour above the limit in a busy road has been fined. Olatunde Sanusi, of Albert Drive, Basildon, was driving a Mercedes in the A1000, in Potters Bar, when he was found doing 37 miles per hour on June 4. The limit is 30.

The 54-year-old admitted the offence at St Albans Magistrates' Court on Tuesday. Sanusi has now been ordered to pay a fine of GBP250 and a surcharge to fund victim services of GBP100. He must also pay costs of GBP90.

His driving record was endorsed with three penalty points. A fare dodger caught travelling to a c2c station in south Essex without her ticket has been handed a fine. Andrei Lungu was boarded a train to Stanford-le-Hope station on October 12 last year when he was found without his valid GBP8.80 ticket.

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure at Barkingside Magistrates' Court on February 28. Lungu, of Somersby Gardens, Ilford, has now been ordered to pay a fine of GBP220 and compensation of GBP8.80. He must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of GBP88 and costs of GBP175.

Another fare dodger caught without a GBP5.60 ticket on a c2c train has been fined more than GBP200. Frederick Okraku, of Ibbotson Avenue, Canning Town, boarded a train to Stanford-le-hope on October 12 when he was found without the valid ticket, Barkingside Magistrates' Court heard. The offence was proved via the single justice procedure on February 28.

The 49-year-old must now pay a fine of GBP220 and compensation of GBP5.60.

Okraku has also been ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of GBP88 and costs of GBP175.
