Boy, 7, dies after lorry and VW Polo crash on the M4

A young boy died in a crash on the M4 yesterday (March 27). Police confirmed that a seven-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision between a Scania lorry and a VW Polo on the westbound carriageway. Officers were called at around 1pm following the crash between junction 18 for Bath and junction 19 for Bristol.

Four other people, who were also in the car, were taken to hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing. Police said that no arrests have been made and two of the casualties have since been discharged. Investigating officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.

Avon and Somerset Police said: “We were called at 1pm yesterday afternoon (26 March) to a report of a collision between a Scania lorry and a VW Polo on the westbound carriageway of the M4 between junctions 18 (Bath) and 19 (M32). Despite the best efforts of emergency services, tragically a 7-year-old boy died at the scene. “Our thoughts are with his family and they continue to be supported by a specially-trained officer.

We are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
